Darigan Daily Drop
fawn legs
Morning-
fire lit.
Early fall light
flits in bits
through yellowing
beech leaves.
Rust from leak
patinas wood stove
while sodden wood,
just split,
barely burns.
Books of wisdom and wit
stacked
on shelves
tables
floors.
3 hatchets,
Like fawn legs,
the “hang” of each
handle unique,
allows
iron axe head
to bite the rounds
and make
the cracking sound
of dry white ash
splitting.
